PHLA+ | Passive House LA Open House with Project Partners

Please join Christian Kienapfel, a founder of PARAVANT Architects, for an open house at his recently completed project, Passive House LA+, the first newly constructed Passive House in Los Angeles. Passive House experts and product manufacturers will be on hand to present information and to answer questions and demonstrate many of the products that helped make this innovative project a success.

This contemporary 1,750 sf, 4 bedrooms and 3 bath home showcases the comfort, efficiency, and sustainability of the Passive House standard, while maintaining a cost effective budget.

Large high performance windows provide natural light and a connection between indoor and outdoor living even with this home’s limited footprint, and optimize both building and acoustical performance, largely alleviating noise pollution from LAX.

Exterior venetian blinds reduce UV, heat, and glare, effectively keeping the house cool and comfortable. Healthy indoor air quality is achieved by using a highly efficient heat-recovery ventilation (HRV), and a photovoltaic system, in combination with a backup battery, heat-pump water heater, make this all electric home net zero—or possibly plus—energy, reducing the utility bills for a lifetime.
Manufacturers will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate many of the products that helped make this innovative project a success.
